NAB Launches DTV Ads During 2008 Political Convention Season
August 20, 2008
WASHINGTON, DC — As Democrats and Republicans gather for the 2008 political conventions, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has launched a new series of ads reminding attendees about the upcoming nationwide transition to digital television (DTV). The transition is an historic moment in broadcasting that will occur on February 17, 2009, shortly after the new administration takes office.
Signage highlighting the switch to DTV has been placed in highly visible areas in the Denver International Airport and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. The ads will run in Denver from August 11–September 10 and in Minneapolis-Saint Paul from August 15–September 14, 2008.

NAB is leading a massive consumer education campaign valued at more than $1 billion to inform and educate Americans on how to prepare for the transition to all-digital broadcasting by full-power television stations next February. An estimated 19.6 million households rely exclusively on over-the-air television and risk losing their reception unless they purchase a converter box or digital TV set, or subscribe to cable or other pay service.
