DTV Roadshow

One of NAB's central grassroots marketing initiatives, the DTV Roadshow helps to increase consumer awareness of the February 17, 2009 transition to digital television (DTV) in targeted areas with high proportions of broadcast-only households.

Summary of the DTV Roadshow:

NAB has two DTV Trekkers – moving trucks designed to resemble giant television sets – crisscrossing the country from November 2007 until transition day in 2009. NAB's traveling road show will promote the DTV transition and benefits of free digital broadcasting and antenna reception at 600 events in 200 markets nationwide. The road show will travel to widely-attended events – from state fairs and large festivals to sporting events, concerts and other events where we can reach thousands of people in person with DTV-related information.

The firm we hired to manage the DTV Road Show, Mobile Marketing Enterprises (MME) of Atlanta, will make it their first order of business to contact NAB member stations and state broadcaster associations each time they enter a new market. Our road show team is constantly updating its travel schedule.

Event Suggestions:

NAB maintains a list of "must attend" events for our DTV Trekkers – large festivals and events with thousands of people in attendance. Once their schedules are in place, the routes become relatively inflexible. We are more able to attend events that are scheduled three months out or more.

The Roadshow schedule prioritizes areas with high over-the-air (OTA) density, attending events that help us reach those most affected by the switch, including minority/non-English speaking populations, older Americans, residents of rural areas, and economically disadvantaged populations.

Please e-mail suggestions about important event in your area that meet these criteria to Michael DiSerio at mdiserio@nab.org.
